Voicing my agreement with past comments. Many people who eventually come out as gay dated people of the opposite sex as teenagers. When Willow self-describes as gay, we should take her at her word. It doesn’t mean that her relationship with Oz (or Xander, for that matter) wasn’t important or meaningful. She was just still trying to figure out who she was.
I don’t think it’s fair to label Willow as bi when she’s canonically stated to be a lesbian. In my view, saying she has to be bisexual bc she dated Oz is like saying a bi female character who’s only dated women has to be a lesbian. Relationships =/= Orientation, esp when you’re a teenager and figuring yourself out, like Willow.
I’m not sure calling Willow bi is super productive. I know it’s a very common argument in the community and fandom whether she was actually bisexual because of Oz, but she frequently calls herself lesbian. I don’t know if it’s up to us to re-label her based on perceived opinion.
