Toshiko Sato, Torchwood
Toshiko Sato (Naoko Mori)
In the British fantasy sci-fi Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, Toshiko was introduced as a scientist and the technical expert at Torchwood, a covert agency dedicated to investigating extraterrestrial events and collecting alien technology. In one episode, Tosh had a very brief affair with a female Alien, Mary. However, it turned out Mary was only using Tosh to get access to her technology which Torchwood had confiscated earlier. Mary had Tosh at knife-point but Tosh’s boss Jack managed to kill her by transporting her to the center of the sun. Toshiko’s sexuality was not explored or mentioned beyond this one episode.
Later in the series, Tosh asked her co-worker Owen out on a date after having nursed a crush on him since the series start. However, she was immediately shot and killed trying to save Owen and prevent a nuclear meltdown.
