Sadie Newsom (Eve Harlow)

Sadie was introduced in season 4 episode 3 of police drama Rogue as an ex-girlfriend of regular character (and previously presumed straight) Mia Rochland. Mia and Sadie had a 5 episode arc during which they were together while trying to blackmail lead character Ethan, and mostly portrayed as antagonists (easily falling into the evil bisexual trope). At the end of her 5 episodes on the show, Sadie betrayed Mia who was killed off.

4×03 “Lost Hope”

Sadie was at a bar discussing L Word characters, when she spotted Mia across the room. At first she wasn’t happy to see Mia who had left her, but Mia apologized, and they went back to Sadie’s place so that Mia could pick up her stuff. After a passive aggressive conversation (Sadie slapped Mia and told her she hated her), they started kissing and it was implied they had sex. The following morning, Sadie helped bandage Mia who had a gunshot injury. Mia was planning to blackmail $50M from Ethan Kelly (by threatening his niece) and Sadie agreed too help.

4×04 “The Determined and the Desperate”

The following episode, Sadie and Mia were taking photos for new passports, preparing to run away once Mia got the $50M. Mia came back with $500k instead and Sadie still wanted them to run with the money, but Mia refused: “do you have any idea what I had to go through with this guy, the things that I had to do? I had him all over me, I had his dick inside me. It makes me sick. And now he thinks that he can take what’s mine?”

Sadie tried to reason with her but Mia added that she had come back to get what was hers. Sadie: “I thought you came here for me”. Mia apologized later and added she was doing everything for the two of them. Sadie again tried to convince her to take the money and go, Mia instead suggested they take some of the money and treat themselves.

They got dressed up, went to a restaurant, and Mia gifted Sadie a necklace. A man sitting at the bar sent over a bottle of champagne, and Mia decided to have some fun. They went over to him and started mocking him. Mia: “look at her, and now look at you. What makes you think that if I can fuck that, that I’d ever want to fuck you”. Mia and Sadie went back to their apartment, and Mia asked Sadie to “imagine living like that, every day, like a fucking queen”. That evening they spent almost $60k and Mia convinced Sadie that in order to live like that needed to get the $50M from Ethan. Sadie agreed, they kissed. The next day, Sadie followed through with Mia’s threats and ran over Ethan’s young niece.

4×05 – 4×07

Sadie was feeling guilty and scared, and Mia tried to reassure her. Sadie yelled that she wasn’t like Mia and couldn’t turn off the part of her brain that felt compassion, and once again tried to convince Mia to run away. After their argument, Sadie went to the hospital to check if the girl was ok, and Mia and Sadie fought again after Mia found out.

Sadie revealed more of their backstory: she had helped Mia hack into the NSA and as a result spent 16 months in jail because she refused to give up Mia’s name in exchange for probation. She was also raped while in jail. Sadie then packed her bags and wanted to leave, but Mia admitted Ethan had come up with another 800k, and agreed to run away. They kissed and had sex.

Their relationship continued to deteriorate, and episode 6 ended with Mia pointing a gun at Sadie. They had broken into a woman’s house, Mia shot her husband who came out with a gun, and Mia then wanted to kill the woman, because she was a witness, but Sadie stepped in front of her.

In episode 4×07, Sadie’s final episode on the show, Sadie ended up siding with Ethan and she betrayed Mia by shooting her in the back and leaving her to get murdered by a Chicago cop, Patrick Finnegan, who was looking for her.
