Marigold Gilchrist, 1600 Penn
Marigold Gilchrist (Amara Miller)
On political comedy 1600 Penn, Marigold Gilchrist was the pre-teen daughter of the US President. She came out as a lesbian when her step-mother asked her the name of the boy she had crush on and she answered, “Jessica”.
Later, she came out again to her brother Skip, when she said, “I just wanted to figure out how to get girls to like me.” When Skip asked if she meant to say boys, Marigold clarified, “No, I mean girls”. She didn’t get much focus on the show, but treated her attraction to girls as a non-issue as she came out to the people in her life.
