Lady Jayne Wetherby, Dracula

Lady Jayne Wetherby (Victoria Smurfit)
In British-American horror drama Dracula, the character of Lady Jayne was never identified as either bisexual or a lesbian, however, outside an unrequited interest in Mina, Lady Jane was Lucy Westenra’s only on-screen female romantic interest, frequently used in episode promos.
Lady Jayne gave lessons on love to the devastated Lucy only in order to manipulate her and convince her to seduce Jonathan Harker, a journalist desperate to climb the ranks of aristocracy. Lady Jayne was also in a sexual relationship with Alexander Grayson, unaware that Alexander was Dracula. She was killed by Grayson in the season finale and the series was canceled after one season.

“The execution of the episode didn’t match the intentions of the writers. I, too, am disappointed. Will comment more after US airs” “Your criticism on this point matches mine exactly. Lucy should not have appeared to enjoy the experience” “I’ve no intention of trying to undo the damage; it can’t be. It’s a terrible wasted opportunity. But I do want to apologize”
“The fact of the matter is, she was shown to like it. And that, specifically, is what is so wrong about it. More in January”
