Karen (Tipper Newton)

Karen was introduced in season 5 episode 9, as Colette’s new girlfriend, and the new receptionist at the hospital. She has brief appearances until the end of the season, but the relationship with Karen was a side-note.

Her main storyline centered around annoying Colette’s roommate Morgan, by frequently showing up in his closet, which she turned into a recording studio, and playing the ukulele (badly), interrupting his dates, or Karen and Colette bumping into Morgan at work as they were about to make out at the office.

In episode 11 Karen and Colette were celebrating their three week anniversary and by the season finale, Colette proposed to Karen. At their engagement party Colette got cold feet, realized marriage meant Morgan having to move out and less time with friends, and ran out the window. She had Morgan break up with Karen for her.

The Mindy Project was renewed for a 6th and final season.
