Joyce is introduced in season 4 episode 4 as an assistant of photo editor in “Life” magazine where she meets Peggy Olson.
After an elevator meeting, Joyce invited Peggy to a party where she offered Peggy a joint and began to hit on her. “I have a boyfriend,” Peggy said. “He doesn’t own your vagina,” Joyce replied. “No, but he’s renting it,” laughed Peggy. A police raid ended the party, and the two escaped out a fire escape.
In episode 4 episode 9 Joyce stopped by Peggy’s office to say hello. Upon entering the office, regular character Stan Rizzo, playfully mocked her for being a lesbian.
