Inara, Firefly

Inara (Morena Baccarin) was a Companion, part of the social elite, often accompanying the wealthy and powerful on their space travels. There was considerable ritual and ceremony surrounding their services, which appeared to extend beyond sex to nurturing psychological, spiritual, physical, and emotional well being. Companions chose their own clients and Inara took both male and female clients, although most of her clients were male. Throughout the series, Inara shared an unspoken attraction with series lead Malcom Reynolds, captain of the star-ship Serenity.
Though the show was canceled before they got together, their relationship was further explored and eventually consummated in the canon continuation comic series and novel.
