In season 4 of Rookie Blue, forensic pathologist Holly meet Gail Peck on a crime scene. Her sexuality was casually mentioned shortly after the two meet and the two formed a friendship. After Gail had a falling out with her best friend, she and Holly attended the wedding of one of Gail’s friends. They ended up sharing a kiss in the coatroom.
Later on, when a man started shooting police officers, Holly found her way to the police station to check up on Gail. They talked and kissed in one of the interrogation rooms. They started dating but when Holly eventually introduced Gail to her friends, Gail overheard a conversation and misinterpreted it, which caused them to break up.
While working on a case, Gail and Holly reconciled and tried to make their relationship work again. Shortly after, Holly got offered a job in America and asked Gail to go with her. Gail, who was in the middle of trying to adopt a girl, declined and the two split up for good.
