Franky Doyle (Nicole da Silva)

On Australian prison drama Wentworth, main character Franky Doyle is a former inmate at Wentworth prison, sentenced to 7 years for assault. She was seen as the prison’s “top dog” at the start of the series and was in a constant power struggle with other inmates contending for the spot. She spent her childhood being verbally and physically abused by her mother. After being granted parole at the end of season three Franky now works as a paralegal.

Seasons 1 and 2

Franky is an out lesbian and has had relationships with both inmates and staff at Wentworth. In the first season Franky had a soft spot for the prison Governor Erica Davidson, and the two often flirted. Their mutual attraction culminated in a kiss in the last episode of the season, however, Erica didn’t return to the series and the relationship was left unsolved. She was also in a casual relationship with Kim Chang during seasons one and two, until Kim was paroled.

Season 3

At the start of the third season Jodi Spiteri was Franky’s new girl, but the relationship was very short lived as Jodi was sent away to isolation for bringing drugs into the prison and Franky started to fall for the new prison psychologist Bridget Westfall. Franky and Bridget’s relationship developed over the course of the season as the two started to have feelings for each other. The relationship was complicated by Franky’s status as inmate and Bridget’s status as a Wentworth employee. When Franky was paroled at the end of the season Bridget was there waiting for her and the two finally got to share a kiss.

Season 4

Franky’s role was reduced in the fourth season and she was only seen in half of the episodes. She continued her relationship with Bridget outside of prison, although the relationship was only shown on-screen in the first two episodes of the season.
