Ella Simms, Melrose Place
Ella Simms (Katie Cassidy): On the reboot of soap opera drama series Melrose Place, Ella Simms was introduced as a bisexual junior publicist. During the show’s first and only season, she had a short fling with David Breck and dated Jonah Miller before they broke up. All of Ella’s involvements with women consisted of one-time, casual hook-ups, and the series was canceled without resolution of the characters’ storylines.
When asked about Ella’s bisexuality, both executive producer Todd Slavkin and actress Katie Cassidy described Ella as a ”try-sexual”: “She is ‘try-sexual,’ meaning she will try anything,” jokes Katie. “She is so open and so free, you never what she is going to do. I think it comes from a place where she is desperately seeking love and acceptance from everyone around her.”
