Charlotte “Charlie” Mayfield (Ryan Michelle Bathe) was the lesbian partner of CPT Nicole Galassini. A civilian, she ran the Youth Activities Center at the Fort Marshall army base. Though Nicole was reluctant to be forthcoming with the relationship due to the Army’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which only allowed gay and lesbian soldiers to serve as long as they did not disclose their sexuality, Nicole eventually proposed to Charlie and agreed to stop hiding their relationship. Later in Season 6, Nicole and Charlie decided to adopt a child, after Charlie’s failed attempts to become pregnant.
