Andréa Martel, Dix Pour Cent/Call My Agent!

Andrea Martel (Camille Cottin)

In comedy series Call My Agent! (Original French tittle Dix Pour Cent), Andrea Martel is a talent agent working at ASK. The show focuses on the inner workings of the agency. When best friend Gabriel asked her about her relationships, Andrea stated that she had sex with men in the past but did not plan to do so again as she preferred women.

In episode 1×02 Andrea was chatting with several women on a lesbian dating app and later on she had sex with one of them (credited as “jeune fille rock” – young rock girl).

In episode 1×03 ASK was undergoing a tax audit, and Colette Brancillon showed up as the tax agent. Colette was also one of the women in the chatroom, rejected by Andrea.

Andrea started to pursue Colette, who thought it was only because she wanted a positive review for the agency. Andrea eventually succeeded to convince her that she was genuinely interested in her and the two of them started a relationship that ended in episode 1×06 when Colette saw Andrea making out with another woman (Mathurine) at a work party.

Season 2

In season 2, Andrea’s storyline involved her having a threesome with her new male boss, ending up pregnant, and then trying to decide whether or not to keep the baby. She had a few one night stands and later in the season, short meetings with Colette, though the focus in the latter was to discuss her pregnancy, and she and Colette never rekindled their relationship.

In the premiere, the agency was in financial trouble, as they had to pay 100k in fines as ordered by Colette. With her co-workers staring at her, Andrea snapped “What? You never had relationship problems?”. Hicham, an aggressive, entitled, self made millionaire, was introduced as the agency’s new partner, with 60% majority.

The next episode, Andrea accidentally ran into Colette, who promptly ran away. She later hooked up with a different woman, until they were interrupted by a call from Fabrice, an actor Andrea was trying to sign. The woman asked Andrea if he was her boyfriend and then (surprised) “Wait, are you bi?”. Andrea responded with “No. It’s for work.”

When talking to Fabrice later that night, he asked her if she was a “dyke”, and Andrea responded with “I don’t know if the word still exists”. They discussed homosexuality, when Andrea figured out she was gay (around 11 or 12), reduced sexuality to “libido” and then Fabrice asked her about the woman she left in bed. Andrea described Colette, and afterwards admitted it wasn’t Colette she was in bed with, because she had lost Colette forever.

At work, tensions also mounted between Andrea and Hicham who harassed her (gifted her a dress and asked her to try it on at the office, which she refused) and tried to fire her.

Threesome

In episode 2×03 Andrea had a work meeting with a model she was obviously attracted to, Aymeline Valade, and Hicham jumped in to introduce himself. Andrea was immediately annoyed, because she had worked for a year to set up the meeting, and didn’t want his flirting to ruin it. Later on, at a lavish party Hicham organized, he also invited Aymeline.

Andrea watched the two flirt, and after reiterating how much she disliked Hicham, she inexplicably grabbed a bottle and followed them to a room, presumably to have a threesome, telling Hicham “you didn’t think you’d have her all to yourself?”.

Andrea started kissing Aymeline, but then grabbed Hicham and started making out with him. Aymeline ended up leaving after trying in vain to get their attention, as Andréa pushed Hicham down on the bed and undressed him.

The next episode (2×04), when talking with a coworker and asked whether that meant she also slept with men, Andrea replied with “No! Not at all”. She later told Hicham she “loved women. And only women.” and that she would never go back to men. They then argued while conducting a job interview about which one made the other orgasm more/faster.

Pregnancy

In episode 2×05, Andrea realized she was pregnant. She went to see Colette and asked her out for a drink, to talk. When Colette refused, because she didn’t want to get hurt again, Andrea blurted out that she was pregnant. They met up at the end of the episode and Andrea told her about the threesome, and that she wanted to get an abortion. They were interrupted by Hicham, who showed up and demanded to be introduced to Colette.

Colette appeared again in episode 2×06, she and Andrea were out for a walk after dinner and talked about the pregnancy, and Colette agreed to see Andrea again after she came back from the Cannes film festival.

With Andrea away at Cannes, Hicham was snooping in her office, found Andrea’s pregnancy results, then ambushed her in Cannes. When Andrea told him it was none of his business because it was her body, he got violent and grabbed her, telling her she wouldn’t decide anything alone.

Andrea and Colette had another scene together, over Skype, but Andrea was freaking out because of Hicham, and after Colette told her she maybe shouldn’t have slept with him, Andrea slapped her laptop shut and ended the call. Colette called her at the end of the episode to apologize, and told her that she wanted to go through the pregnancy with her, although in the meantime, Andrea had gotten a job offer in New York.

The season cliffhanger was Andrea not knowing what to do about the job offer or pregnancy, while Hicham, always controlling, was planning to buy out the New York agency that had offered her the job.
