On historical drama Manhattan, Abby Isaacs was married to nuclear research scientist Charlie Isaacs, but the couple shared few interests apart from their son. At the start of the series, Abby and her family had just moved to the Los Alamos military base and were new to the community.
Abby found herself isolated, but soon struck up a friendship with her neighbor, Elodie, a French switchboard operator. The two women developed feelings for each other and fell into an affair, planing to leave their husbands and build a life together. However, at the end of the first season, Abby betrayed Elodie in order to protect her family and the relationship ended.
Abby’s interest in women was brought up again in the second season, and she left her husband Charlie. The series was canceled before concluding the characters’ storylines.
