Maia (Rose Leslie)
The Good Fight is a legal and political drama that picks up one year after the events of the The Good Wife.
The series follows Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) after an enormous financial scam destroys the reputation of her goddaughter Maia and Diane’s savings, leading them to join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
In December 2016, EW released a first photo of Maia and her girlfriend Amy (Helene Yorke), and the show producers announced that she would be a lesbian. Despite being used in the show promo, the scene in question was not included in the episode.
“That’s Maia’s longtime girlfriend, who is a lawyer herself. She graduated from law school a while ago. Now it’s Maia’s turn to graduate from law school.” – executive producer Robert King.
Amy has brief appearances in episodes 1 and 2. In episode 4 it is revealed that Maia had an ex-boyfriend Ted, who has naked pictures with her.
Despite Maia’s personal life being closely tied to the plot, her girlfriend is not seen again (1×01 – 1×06). The show however does feature other heterosexual romances (Lucca and Colin, both regular characters) who get significant screen time.
The show is currently airing on CBS All Access.
